FOR THE YEAR 2014 - 2015

- India International Mega Trade Fair (IIMTF) 18th-28th December 2014, Science City Grounds, Kolkata

The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry tied up with G. S. Marketing Associates to organize the India International Mega Trade Fair (IIMTF) from 18th to 28th December 2014 at the Science City Grounds. This is the 13th IIMTF – and the 12 previous fairs have been held extremely successfully.
Since the fair was held in the winter holiday season, it generated a huge number of B2B as well as B2C visitors to the fair.
The highlights of India International Mega Trade Fair are as follows:
• It was a Major Fair in Eastern India, approved by ITPO, which comes under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.
• It had many air-conditioned pavilions dedicated to different products/subjects with wooden platforms and synthetic carpets.
• The Event also generated unmatched and extensive publicity through Print and Electronic Media, Outdoor Media and Outdoors.
• More than 1600 Participants, besides participation from more than 10 Overseas Countries.
A Press Conference was organized post the inauguration of the Fair on the first day of the exhibition which was attended by reporters from all the leading dailies, thus giving a further fillip to the exhibition. The Chamber’s main objective by holding this Fair is to bring Bengal in close proximity with the other States and overseas countries.
Initially, when we started organizing this Fair, there were very few foreign participants. Now, the number of participants has risen to between 300 and 400 companies. There were 10 countries participating in the IIMTF this year - Bangladesh, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal and of course, India. With participation from States in India like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Kerala, many Departments of the Central Government like the Jute Board, Textiles and Handlooms also participated in the Fair.
The India International Mega Trade Fair is a golden opportunity for the participants to showcase their products in a grand exhibition setting adhering to international standards.
Given India’s status as one of the fastest emerging markets in the world, this mega event undoubtedly provides tremendous business opportunities. With the diverse range of industries participating in the event, it provides an excellent opportunity for Joint Ventures, Strategic tie-ups and a wide array of other business possibilities – not only between the participants and the business visitors, but also between fellow participant exhibitors. The visitors included industry leaders, senior government officials, corporate decision-makers, manufacturers, traders and a large number of customers.
Janab Tofail Ahmed, MP, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was the Guest of Honor while the Hon’ble Minister, Finance & Excise, Commerce and Industries, IT & Electronics, Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Amit Mitra also graced the occasion and inaugurated the fair.
