Followed by the enthusiastic response to the Kolkata edition, The BCC&I organised the Business Conclave "Viksit Bengal" - Siliguri Edition, presented by the Delhi Council and North Bengal Committee under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Swapan Dasgupta, Hon'ble Finance Minister of West Bengal, as Patron, on 28 July 2026.
Along with Dr. Swapan Dasgupta; Dr. Shankar Ghosh, Hon’ble Minister, Tourism and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of West Bengal graced the occasion. We were delighted to have Padma Shri Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Group as our Industry Keynote speaker. Among the other dignitaries present were Mr. Satyam Roychowdhury, Chairperson, North Bengal Committee, BCC&I, Founder and Managing Director, Techno India Group, & Chancellor, Sister Nivedita University, Mr. Simarpreet Singh, Chairperson, The Education National Committee, BCC&I and Director, JIS Group and Mr. Umang Mittal, Executive Director, PRM Begraj Group, Mr. Nishant Mittal, Director, PCM Group, Mr. Anirban Aditya, Chairman, Aditya Group and Mr. Dilip Dugar Co-Chair North Bengal Committee, BCC&I and CEO, Radio Misty. We also had the pleasure of having Mr. Deb A. Mukherjee, Former President and Chairperson, The Delhi Council, BCC&I, & Mr. Gautam Ray, Former President, BCC&I. Mr. Subhodip Ghosh, Director General, The BCC&I commenced the programme with the context setting.
Addressing the Viksit Bengal Conclave in Siliguri, the Finance Minister announced a Rs. 70,000 crore Central allocation for West Bengal to accelerate the state's development and help bridge decades of developmental deficit.
The summit also served as an important platform for showcasing and facilitating upcoming investment opportunities in North Bengal. Rs. 1000+ crores of investments were announced by Techno India group, JIS Group, Mittal Group, Aditya Group and Sree Balaji.
"Viksit Bengal-Siliguri Edition" was widely appreciated as a landmark initiative, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs and senior professionals from North Bengal as well as Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati and Bengaluru. The Summit witnessed enthusiastic participation from leading industries across North Bengal, MSMEs from Dabgram, Fulbari and other industrial clusters, along with industry associations and Chambers of Commerce from Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur and Jalpaiguri, making it a truly representative platform for regional economic growth and investment.
The conclave also received extensive coverage across leading print and digital media, including The Statesman, The Telegraph, The Economic Times, Anandabazar Patrika, Uttarbanga Sambad, Aajkaal, Bartaman, Sangbad Pratidin, Ei Samay and Himalaya Darpan, among others. The widespread media coverage significantly enhanced the visibility of the initiative, fostered a positive narrative around North Bengal and brought its emerging investment and business opportunities to the forefront.
The overwhelming response and broad-based participation underscored The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (BCC&I) role in fostering industry–government collaboration through the successful organisation of the Viksit Bengal Summit, while reinforcing North Bengal's emergence as a preferred investment destination under the development agenda of the newly formed Government of West Bengal.
