Mr. Abraham George Stephanos

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Managing Director, Tata Steel Downstream Products Limited

Mr. Stephanos is the Managing Director of Tata Steel Downstream Products Limited. He started his career with Indian Aluminium Company (INDAL) in 1984, where he held various positions in the smelter, extrusions and the foil & packaging divisions. In 1997, he joined the Senior Leadership team of TSDPL (Then known as Tata Ryerson Limited), where he held the positions of Chief of Market Planning, Vice President (Marketing & Sales), Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director before being appointed as the Managing Director in 2014.

He is the President of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In addition, he is the Chairman of the CII GreenCo Forum, Kolkata Chapter. He is also the Chairman of IIM Calcutta Alumni Association. He has a Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.


Mr. Gautam Ray

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Chairperson, Energy and Environment Committee and Senior Vice President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Executive Director (HR & Admin.) - CESC Limited & President (HR) - Power Group, RPSG.

Mr. Gautam Ray, 61, Fellow of The Institution of Engineers, graduated in Electrical Engineering from Calcutta University (erstwhile Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, presently IIEST) in 1981 and completed Post Graduation in Electrical Power System, from the same Institute in 1983. Presently, he is Executive Director of CESC Limited, age-old power utility serving the city of Kolkata for more than 100 years. He is also President (HR), Power Group of RPSG. Mr. Ray has an experience of 37 years of working in Power System operations and load dispatch, before he migrated to HR & Admn. He is responsible for HR and Administration for CESC, along with the entire HR process for the new initiatives under CESC, which includes, new power projects and new distribution businesses, training initiatives, collaborative efforts etc. He was instrumental in working on a collaborative project with Singapore Power for improvement in Distribution Sector. He also established AIPM (Asia Institute of Power Management) under CESC, which imparted training and consultancy services for many power utilities of India and neighboring countries.

He is the Chairman of National Safety Council - West Bengal Chapter, Former President - Calcutta Management Association for 2015-16 and 2016-17, Senior Vice President & Managing Committee Member - Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Chairman - Energy & Environment Committee of Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Chairman - (HR & IR Committee) - CII (ER), Member of National HR & IR Committee - CII. Presently he is serving as Vice Chairman of IIEST Alumni Cell and Executive Committee Member and Co-Chairman of Energy Committee of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

He is married to Mrs. Aditi Ray, Architect by profession and is blessed with two daughters - Shamayeeta, post-doctoral research fellow in Harvard University and Arthita, engaged as journalist in WION TV, Zee Media.


Dr. Vibha Dhawan

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Director General, The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI).

Dr. Vibha Dhawan is the Director General of India's premier research institution - The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and has been associated with TERI since 1985. Dr. Dhawan is actively involved in research as well as policy development at the national and international levels. Dr. Dhawan is a well-published researcher and has been instrumental in the establishment of the highly successful Micropropagation Technology Park at TERI. In the area of advanced biofuels, she guides the activities of the DBT-TERI Centre on Integrated Production of Advanced Biofuels and Biocommodities.

She held several leadership postions such as being the Vice-Chancellor of TERI School of Advanced Studies from 2005-2007. She is currently serving as Adjunct Professor, Consul General of South Asia Partnership, Michigan State University. She is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India. She is a task force member of a number of committees with entities such as the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), the Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), among others. She has served on the boards of prestigious organizations in India and overseas including Jawaharlal Nehru University, Ambedkar University, Ayurvet Foundation and Centre for Bioscience and Agriculture International (CABI). She has also successfully completed a number of international assignments such as Coordinator for the Asia Pacific Consortium on Agriculture Biotechnology (APCoAB); Advisor to Director General, The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT); and Deputy Director, Research Partnerships & Co-ordination with the Borlaug Institute for South Asia. Her other contributions include developing e-contents for the post-graduate programme in biotechnology for the University Grants Commission. She was also an Advisor, Bio-resources & Biotechnology, to the Late Tarun Gogoi, the former Chief Minister of Assam.

She is the winner of Indian Women Achievers Sammaan 2017 by NRI Achievers; Women Leadership Agriculture Award 2016 by the Indian Council of Food & Agriculture; First Biotech Product and Process Development and Commercialization Award of the Department of Biotechnology in 2000, the Kamal Kumari National Award for Science and Technology and the first All India Biotech Association (AIBA) award in 1998.


Shri Arun Kumar Mishra

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave CEO, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL)

Mr. Arun Kumar Mishra is a veteran in the energy sector with over three decades of experience in NTPC and the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL). He is also Director (Project Management Unit) of the National Smart Grid Mission, and Vice-Chair of the International Smart Grid Action Network. His experience spans the planning, design and implementation of power systems, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) integration in power utilities, SCADA and Smart Grid Applications including designing complex communication networks.

Mr. Mishra is a Distinguished Member of the CIGRE India-National System Committee on Information Systems and Telecommunications, and the BIS Sectional Committee LITD10 for Power System Control and Associated Communications. He completed his Electrical Engineering graduation from NIT, Kurukshetra, and is a certified ISMS lead auditor. His published technical papers include Indian Experience in Implementation of SCADA/EMS Systems in IEEE Power Tech 2005, Cyber Security in Indian Power Sector in Grid Tech 2011, and Future Grid Control Centres for Indian Power Systems in CIGRÉ 2012.


Mr. Daniel Sim

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Acting Consul General, Australian Consulate-General, Kolkata

Mr. Daniel Sim has been Australia's Deputy Consul-General in Kolkata since December 2019.

Daniel is an experienced policy officer and economic analyst at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In Canberra, he facilitated Australian engagement in the G20, APEC and World Economic Forum, and advanced Australia's relations with countries in East Asia - including Vietnam, Malaysia and China. He was Deputy Director (Economic and Policy) at the Australian Office in Taipei from 2008-11.

Daniel has a Master in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore (2018-19) where he was a Lee Kuan Yew Fellowship holder. He has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma in Modern Languages (Chinese) from the University of Melbourne.

The Consulate-General in Kolkata is responsible for advancing Australian interests in the eastern and northeast Indian states of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim and Tripura.


Ms. Melinda Pavek

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Consul General, U S Consulate Kolkata.

Consul General Melinda Pavek began her assignment at the U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata (India) in August 2021.

Her prior assignments included Counselor for Science, Innovation, and Development (U.S. Embassy Tokyo), Supervisory General Service Officer (U.S. Embassy Islamabad, Pakistan), and Deputy Chief of Mission (U.S. Embassy Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei). She also served overseas in Nepal (Kathmandu), Jamaica (Kingston), Iraq (Baghdad), and Pakistan (Lahore) as well as on domestic assignment in Washington, D.C. as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Administration? Melinda became a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State in 2004.

Before joining the Foreign Service, Melinda worked for Johnson & Johnson (J&J) as a supply chain senior analyst, was a consultant and project manager who implemented quality management systems using Six Sigma process improvement methodologies and ISO 9000 standards, and taught English as a Second Language in Miyagi, Japan.

Raised in Minnesota and now a resident of Wyoming, Melinda earned a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Operations, Supply Chain, and Strategy from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Melinda earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College (Rock Island, Illinois) in Political Science, Economics, and Asian Studies.

Melinda's partner Brandon is a finance, consulting, and trading professional based in Chicago.


Ms. Libby Green

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Climate and Energy Lead, British High Commission, New Delhi, (from COP 26 to COP 27)

Ms. Libby Green is the lead on COP26 in the British High Commission in New Delhi and now heads up the Climate and Energy work in the mission. In the FCDO in London, Libby has worked in the Press Office, in the Security Policy Department, and China Department and spent time on loan to the Department of Health. Overseas, Libby has served as Deputy Head of Mission in the British Embassy in Copenhagen (2007-2010) and as Head of Climate and Energy Section, and later Head of the Health and Social Care section in the British Embassy in Beijing (2010-15). Libby has an MA in English Literature from Cambridge University.


Ms. Anna Shotbolt

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Deputy Trade Commissioner to South Asia, British High Commission, Delhi

Ms. Anna Shotbolt was appointed Her Majesty's Deputy Trade Commissioner South Asia for Exports, Trade policy and Economics in July 2022, based in New Delhi. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Trade Commissioner Investment for South Asia and the British Deputy High Commissioner for Karnataka & Kerala in January 2022.

Prior to her appointment, Anna was Deputy Director of the Export Support Service in the Department for International Trade where she set up a new tailored service for businesses selling their good and services overseas. Immediately before this, she worked in the Cabinet Office on the Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy.

Anna has previously worked in China, as First Secretary based in Beijing working on trade and investment in the education and infrastructure sectors.

His Excellency started his Career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the year 1993 as Diplomatic Attaché. Mr. Subir Chakraborty

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave President Designate, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Exide Industries Limited.

Mr. Subir Chakraborty has spent nearly four decades working in various capacities in several organizations, out of which he spent more than twenty five years at Exide Industries Ltd, rising from the level of General Manager to the position of Managing Director & CEO. Additionally, he chairs the Boards of several companies such as Chloride Batteries S E Asia Pte Ltd (CBSEA) Espex Batteries Ltd (Espex), Chloride Metals Ltd, Exide Leclanche Energy Pvt Ltd, Exide Energy Solutions Ltd and Chloride International Ltd. CBSEA and Espex are located in Singapore and UK respectively, while the other companies are located in India.

He qualified as a mechanical engineer from IIT Madras, earning his B.Tech in 1980 with a Distinction. Thereafter, he worked for two years as an engineer, and then enrolled at IIM Calcutta to pursue a post graduate programme in Management, completing his PGDM in 1984.

He is deeply involved in business bodies and associations and is the President Designate of Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI). He is also a National Council Member of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

He remains interested in academic pursuits and has been a guest faculty at several reputed management institutions of repute.


Shri Debashis Sen

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Managing Director, WBHIDCO Limited & Chairman, New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA).

Shri Debashis Sen joined the IAS in 1985. He got his Diploma in Public Administration from ENA, France.

Shri Sen has served as Chief Electoral Officer for five years and Head of Information Technology & Electronics Department for three years and Head of Urban Development Department for seven years. As CEO, his innovative communication icon 'Anandababu' made doing India's first photo-electoral rolls much easier in the state. In IT&E Department, he applied use of Blockchain in the field of Birth certificates for the first time in India. In the UD Department, he was instrumental in bringing out the first Township Policy of the country. And as MD of HIDCO, he has been associated, and still is, developing a 30 sq km, greenfield township for more than 14 years now. He has received the 'Jewel of Bengal' award for outstanding contribution to Public Administration.

He is presently posted as Managing Director, HIDCO and Chairman of New Town Kolkata Green Smart City Corporation Ltd which are both government companies that is developing Smart City of New Town, Kolkata. He is also the Chairman of Naba Diganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA) at Sector 5, Kolkata.


Mr. Rajesh Mediratta

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Managing Director and CEO, Indian Energy Exchange.

Rajesh Kumar Mediratta has over three decade of experience in power and gas sector and played key role in commencing first electricity and gas exchanges in the country.

He was key founder member of the team for establishing first power exchange the country in 2007 and gas exchange in 2019. Before IEX & IGX, he worked with apex electricity planning body Central Electricity Authority, Power Grid Corporation in the areas of system operation and commercial settlements.

His current interests are in Energy transition, decarbonisation, gas and power markets. He has to his credit several papers on gas, power markets, renewable markets, commercial mechanism, power system operation and settlement systems and on reforms in gas and power sector, presented at international and national conferences.

Mr. Mediratta holds a bachelor's degree of mechanical engineering (Gold Medallist) and MBA in Finance. He is currently holding the position of MD & CEO at IGX.

Mr. Sourav Daspatnaik

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Managing Director, Swach Environment Pvt Ltd.

An engineering and management professional with 33 years of cross-functional experience, Sourav Daspatnaik is currently Managing Director, Swach Environment Private Limited. He also serves as the Director, Nangloi Water Services, established under PPP for supplying 24x7 water as a concessionaire of Delhi Jal Board, Government of NCT Delhi, Director, Haldia Water Services, established to provide 24x7 water services as utility under Haldia Development Authority, GoWB. He also serves as an independent director in several Indian companies and mentors social enterprises in the area of innovative and clean technologies for water supply and sanitation Currently he is the member Advisory Board of Innovation and Business Accelerator Center (IBAC) set up by FICCI and West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), GoWB.

During his professional career spanning over 33 years, he has worked with leading organisations such as Tata Motors, Jamshedpur , Tata Steel Ltd, Mercer HR Consulting. He is the one of the founding members of National Water Alliance of India supported by Industry bodies and part of the India-Israel Innovation Bridge for commercially developing technologies thru start-ups. He has proven track record of building businesses along with operational excellence.

In the recent past, Daspatnaik has served as Chairman, Skill Development Task force and Co-Chair Infrastructure Committee of Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and national board member for the National HRD Network, an apex body for human resources professionals. He was a founder director of the Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council, under the NSDC. He has played a vital role in the launch of the India-Myanmar Solar Energy Forum and India Myanmar Trade & Commerce including Border Trade with a view to strengthen the bilateral trade ties between the two governments and people.

Daspatnaik has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi and holds a master's degree in operations management from the Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA.

Mr. Ajeya Bandyopadhyay

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Asia Pacific (Lead) - Decarbonization& Circular Economy, Senior Operations Officer, Manufacturing, Agribusiness & Services (MAS) Advisory, IFC (World Bank Group)

Mr. Ajeya Bandyopadhyay is presently the Asia-Pacific Lead of Climate Advisory of International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group. In this role, he is responsible for growing IFC's climate-investment portfolio in Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services sector. His key focus is to advise leading private sector and government entities in the region, to identify, develop and structure 'early stage' or 'mainstream' investment opportunities in Decarbonization, Circular Economy, Green Supply Chain etc. and, supporting their implementation through climate finance, and targeted policy reforms. Prior to joining World Bank Group, Ajeya was a Partner with KPMG (India), where he led advisory practices on climate change, cleaner technologies and sustainable cities.

His experience spans across 17 countries in 5 key geographies viz. Asia, Europe, CIS, Middle East & Africa and Latin America where he led projects and programmes on diverse themes such as sustainable industrialization, clean technology transfer, climate risk and vulnerability, disaster resilience, carbon emission forecasting and mitigation, green cities, eco-industrial zones and low-carbon policy. On these topics he had also authored and co-authored several Guidebooks and analytical papers for the international organizations.

Ajeya is a member of the 'Multi-donor expert group on Green-FDI promotion for emerging economies', a consulting member of NITI Ayog's 'Circular Economy committee' and, a member of World Bank's task-force for 'Country Climate Development Report (CCDR)' for India.

By qualification he is a Chemical Engineer from Jadavpur University (India) and an MBA from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. He has also received 'Public Leadership Credentials' from Harvard University.


Dr. Vijay Prakash

Working with Environmental Engineering Department. Responsible for Site Selection for Thermal Power Projects. EIA studies, presenting project proposals before Public Hearing Panel and Expert Appraisal Committee of MOEF; coordination with regulatory and funding agencies on environment related issues, dealing with court cases related to Environment, undertaking special studies to substantiate issues related to environment.

Mr. Deb A Mukherjee

An entrepreneur, professionally qualified as a lawyer, with over 38 years work experience in diverse business domains, engineering systems, information technology solutions and later in energy services for the last 15 years.

He was Executive Chairman of Eaga Energy India Pvt Ltd (subsidiary of Eaga plc UK FTSE250 company) until 2012. Currently he is an Investor and Country Representative for Power Roll Ltd, UK and also Managing Director of Cenergist Energy Private Limited which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eneraqua Technologies plc, a UK listed company.

Power Roll is exploring to invest in India.

He has served on various Trade Committees in India and the UK and spoken at several international seminars on Sustainability Issues, Energy Efficiency, Renewables, Water Management and on Business Strategies.


Mr. Nick Low

Mr. Nick Low is the British Deputy High Commissioner to Kolkata. He joined office on 16 October 2019 and represents the UK in the 13 Indian states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Low has been a Counsellor at the British Embassy responsible for the United Kingdom's relations with China's Second and Third Tier Cities (2015 to 2019). He was previously the Deputy Head of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Crisis Management Department. From 2010 to 2014 Nick was the UK's Deputy High Commissioner in Bangladesh. From 2007 to 2010 he led the FCO team developing policy to reinforce the nuclear non-proliferation regime, in particular the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, multilateral approaches to the nuclear fuel cycle and the International Atomic Energy Agency. He has previously worked in South America (Santiago de Chile and Brasília) and the Maghreb (Rabat and Algiers) covering a wide range of political, aid, economic, commercial and counter-terrorist work.

Nick was educated at Christ's College Cambridge and Bedford College London. He is married with two children.


Ms. Libby Green

Ms. Libby Green is led on COP26 in the British High Commission in New Delhi and now heads up the Climate and Energy work in the mission. In the FCDO in London, Libby has worked in the Press Office, in the Security Policy Department, and China Department and spent time on loan to the Department of Health. Overseas, Libby has served as Deputy Head of Mission in the British Embassy in Copenhagen (2007-2010) and as Head of Climate and Energy Section, and later Head of the Health and Social Care section in the British Embassy in Beijing (2010-15). Libby has an MA in English Literature from Cambridge University.

Dr. Jonathan Pearce

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave British Geological Survey.

Dr. Jonathan Pearce is Head of Carbon Dioxide Storage research at British Geological Survey where he leads a team of experts on all aspects of geological storage. He specialises in assessing technical compliance with regulatory requirements for CO2 storage, with a focus on monitoring storage operations, assessing risks, and storage permit applications for commercial developers. Jonathan is the CO2 Storage coordinator for the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) Carbon Capture and Storage Programme, leading the development of research priorities for CO2 storage for Europe's Implementation Working Group on CCS.

He is also Chair of ECCSEL, a European network of over 80 research facilities dedicated to CCS. He has previously advised UK government, as well as the EU, on CCS and has led CCS feasibility studies internationally. He has recently been seconded to the UK's Natural Environment Research Council as Chief Technical Officer for a new deep CO2 geological research facility and is currently collaborating with colleagues in India on assessing the feasibility of deep CO2 storage.

Mr.Arun Mukherjee is a Mechanical Engineer having over 38 years of experience in manufacturing and process industry. He started career with Damodar Valley and then moved to Durgapur Steel Plant and in the year 1976 joined Thermax Limited, Eastern Region. Retired from Thermax Limited in 2008.

In Thermax, Mr.Mukherjee has managed the Eastern Region operation along with Nepal, Bhutan & Bangladesh since 1989, with a topline turnover of approx. Rs.500 crores in the business areas of energy, environment, power, water and chemicals. During his tenure, he had spearheaded various initiatives on renewable energy based power generation, energy efficiency and tri-generation.

Post his retirement from Thermax in 2009, Mr. Mukherjee was associated with GP Energy System Pvt Ltd, a company involved in renewable energy based gassification system.

In 2011, he associated with Hari Machine Ltd for setting up power boiler business.

From 2015 to 2020, he supported RAFAKO for developing business in India as Business Development Advisor.


Mr. Harish Saran

Mr. Harish Saran is Executive Director (Commercial & Operations) at PTC. He is also incharge for HR, SS and Legal functions. He is with PTC since inception.

Harish is an Electrical Engineer and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management. Prior to joining PTC, he was with NTPC and was part of the 12th Batch EET. He also worked with PGCIL. He has a work experience of more than 35 years in the Power Sector across generation, transmission and trading domains.

He is also a member of one of the task forces of USAID/SARI programmes since inception of the programme. He is also PTC's Nominee Director on the Board of PTC Energy Ltd.

The Commercial team undertakes the pivotal role of the Company, responsible for invoicing, realization and accounting. The team works with the objective of catalyzing cash flow to Discoms and suppliers in the best possible manner taking proactive commercial calls in view of changing business scenarios.

The Operations team focuses on monitoring power flows across regions and countries supported by a 24x7 control room. Power trading involves diverse contractual obligations which makes it imperative for PTC to have a strong legal team for addressing complex issues that arise during execution, operation of contracts and resolution of potential disputes "if and when" they arise.

Human capital being the only and most important asset for PTC, ensuring employee wellbeing, development and growth are the topmost priorities.

Mr. Saran has travelled widely across continents towards capacity building and power market programs. He has a passion for travelling and interacting people with different segments of the society apart from being a music lover and a liking for photography.

Monali Zeya Hazra is a post-graduate in Environmental Management from Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, Kolkata. With around 24 years of experience, she has managed several USAID's clean energy programs including regional power trade and markets, renewable integration, cleaner fossil, distribution reforms, and smart grids. Prior to USAID, Ms. Zeya-Hazra led the Industry and Environment Team at the Centre for Science and Environment.


Mr. Sthitadhee Sarkar

Mr. Sthitadhee Sarkar is a young and dynamic leader and experienced Power System Engineer focussed on Real Time Power System Operations. He is currently the Control Centre Manager at National Grid UK. Sthitadhee has been working in the National Grid UK control centre for the past 10 years.

Prior to joining National Grid, Sthitadhee has worked in the Middle East as Project Manager for largescale turnkey Power Transmission and Distribution construction projects and also in CESC Ltd, Kolkata as Operations Engineer at the beginning of his career.

Sthitadhee is a Chartered Electrical Engineer registered with the Engineering Council UK. He is widely involved in Sustainability, Net Zero and actively involved in strategic development of the next generation of UK workforce for achieving the Net Zero Ambition.


Dr. Xiaoyao Zhou

A chartered engineer with two decades of transmission system operation, planning and investment experience. Mr. Pramod Singh, is presently heading the Regulatory & Commercial of the Company. With post-qualification experience of more than 28 years of extensive experience in power & infrastructure sector across the breadth of responsibilities in corporate strategy, business development, policy & regulatory affairs, power sales and techno-commercial management, He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from NIT Rourkela and a Full time Post Graduate Program in Management from IMI, Delhi.

In the past, he has worked in two of the largest private sector power companies in India (i.e. Tata Power & BSES (now Reliance Infrastructure)) and has been extensively involved with the Power sector reforms and Private sector participation covering various segments of the sector including Power Generation and Distribution. He was associated with various opportunities for development of new generation projects and working in power distribution businesses. He was associated with the privatization scheme of Delhi Distribution (DVB) right from its inception including the bidding and transactional management in his earlier assignment with BSES.

Mollah M Amzad Hossain

Mollah M Amzad Hossain has been working in Bangladesh's media sector since 1982. With his long 31 years of experiences, he has been publishing and editing the country's lone energy sector magazine Energy & Power - since 2003.

When he was a graduate student in the University of Rajshahi, he was actively involved with student politics apart from social and cultural activities.

As he moved to the capital Dhaka from Rajshahi, he joined the Daily Azad, the oldest vernacular daily of the country, in 1988. In 1992, he joined the Daily Banglabazar Patrika and worked as the Chief Reporter.

He covered energy, trade and business, environment, politics and aviation sectors during his reporting career and covered several international and regional events in the fields of energy and, trade and business.

During his colourful career, he involved himself with the Association of Development Agencies in Bangladesh (ADAB), an umbrella platform for more than 12 hundreds of development organizations, as Media Relations Consultant.

He also worked for the daily Amader Shomoy as Deputy Editor and the daily Amader Orthoniti as acting Editor.

The Energy & Power has been the Media Partner of the German GIZ Since 2006 for promotion of Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Energy Efficiency and Conservation. The paper is also working as Media Partner of UNDP Bangladesh and Petrobangla.
