Mr. Sanjiva de Silva brings extensive experience representing Australia and has led international trade, environment and climate discussions, including with India. Sanjiva's professional background is as an international trade lawyer and negotiator. Sanjiva was Australia's lead negotiator for investment in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and various other FTAs. He was Australia's lead on climate and sustainability at G20 meetings in 2019. Most recently, he led development of Australia's Low Emissions Technology Investment Roadmap.

 Sanjiva is a qualified lawyer in Australia and the United Kingdom, completed a Master of Public International Law (University of Melbourne) in 2011 and holds bachelor's degrees in Law and Environmental Science from the Australian National University.

Started his journey with entrepreneurship in 2020 with a vision to bring a positive impact towards climate change. An incubate of the WEBEL_BCC&I Tech Incubation Center supported by Bandhan Bank, was awarded with the project of Bee corridor (A unique project to raise an apiary at the heart of the city).

 Prior to his stint as an entrepreneur, he was associated with the ICT sector for 8 years working with a telecom giant. He was also associated with a Startup that focused on developing equipment's related to laboratory use that requires special customization, was also responsible for the development and design of various products that are currently being used on various biotechnology laboratories.

 He holds a bachelor's degree in technology on the Electronics and Communication discipline from WBUT (currently MAKAUT). However being an avid learner he believes in knowledge over degree and continues his passion towards environmental studies and its practical implications.

In 2018 he was selected among 15 entrepreneurs from the globe by Young Sustainable Impact, Norway. He attended many International & National Conferences and presented his talks as keynote speaker. His famous Invention is on Intelligent & Thinking toilet capable of detecting and predicting lifestyle diseases. Portable storage chamber for storage of horticultural produces, wearable medical device, fully solar operated cold storage with rotating roof, Generation of Electricity from coal ash, Agro-electronics devices etc. He motivates School students across the country and teaches skills to underprivileged children's who lack the basic necessities of life. He is the author of the book named MIRACLE MINDS. He had been featured in number of Newspaper, magazines and TV Shows.

 Nikky Kumar Jha is the Founder-CEO of Urinalytics Healthcare Pvt. Ltd (www.urinalytics.com), which is a young healthcare technology Startup incubated at SIIC, IIT Kanpur which is driven by Research & Development with a deep commitment to reduce the number of preventable deaths due to undiagnosed diseases through a revolution in rapid urine testing. The startup is developing a Plug & Play device to be fitted in public urinals and toilets capable of detecting and predicting lifestyle diseases.

 He is Co-Founder and CTO of Saptkrishi which is a young agritech startup incubated at IIT-Kanpur, as a social enterprise the focus sector for its first phase is the development of low-cost storage and transportation solution for farmers and traders engaged with horticulture and floriculture. The enterprise has developed a minimum viable product termed as the 'sabzi kothi', that can be utilized for the storage of fruits & vegetables produce ranging from 10 to 40 days depending upon the particular crop. It is first of its kind which doesn't require cooling, chemical and first green solution in the market.

Mr. Arun Mukherjee is a Mechanical Engineer having over 38 years of experience in manufacturing and process industry. He started career with Damodar Valley and then moved to Durgapur Steel Plant and in the year 1976 joined Thermax Limited, Eastern Region. Retired from Thermax Limited in 2008.

 In Thermax, Mr. Mukherjee has managed the Eastern Region operation along with Nepal, Bhutan & Bangladesh since 1989, with a topline turnover of approx..Rs.500 crores in the business areas of energy, environment, power, water and chemicals. During his tenure, he had spearheaded various initiatives on renewable energy based power generation, energy efficiency and tri-generation.

 Post his retirement from Thermax in 2009, Mr. Mukherjee was associated with GP Energy System Pvt Ltd, a company involved in renewable energy based gassification system.

 In 2011, he associated with Hari Machine Ltd for setting up power boiler business. During his association, he was instrumental in bringing together a clean coal technology cooperation agreement with RAFAKO (largest European boiler manufacturer) through the Bengal Chamber - EBTC tie-up.

 Presently he is Director (Technical), Prerana Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd and a Business company in Poland..


Dr. Ajay Pradhan

Dr. Ajay Pradhan is the President & CEO of C2S2 Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd. And has over three decades of experience in planning, designing and implementing infrastructure projects. He has been a consultant to the Planning Commission, and a scientist in Designing and Modeling Group of National Informatics Centre, Government of India. He worked in (CH2MHill and Halcrow) JACBOS India as Managing Director, Founder Director and Managing Director for DHI (A Danish International Water & Environment Institute), DHV India as head of Business and Operation, Head of Business and Commercial of FUGRO Bv, General Manager and Board Member of RMS Inc., in India. His key practice and research areas include technology intervention, mathematical modeling, Oil & Gas Offshore Engineering, River engineering, Renewable Energy, sustainable integrated water resources management (IWRM), water and wastewater, waste to energy, climate resilience studies, policy and Governance.

 He holds a masters and Ph.D. in Water Resources Management & Engineering. Member Board of Management, KISS University. A Member of the National Committee to prepare a comprehensive road map for Water Management in India - SURFACE WATER: River Rejuvenation, Flood Control, and Dam Safety of Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. Ajay is also a member of the CII National Committee on Water.

Mr. Sourav Daspatnaik is currently Managing Director, Swach Environment Private Limited, one of the holistic environment infrastructure companies involved in developing and Operating one of the large water , waste water and solid waste management utilities under Public Private Partnerships as well as B2B BOOT partnerships in India. He is leading the initiatives in building Water and Waste water Infrastructure and utilities under the ambitious National Missions of Jal Jivan Mission, National Mission from Clean Ganga of the Government of India and working closely with various State Governments.

 He has been instrumental in the formation of Water Alliance India (WAI), foundation for leading initiatives in Water Conservation, Education and Communication with stakeholders. He is the Member of Governing Council for Consulting Engineering Association of India, Committee Member of Water Mission, FICCI and Nominated Director in various Companies such as Haldia water Services Pvt Ltd, Nangloi Water Services Pvt Ltd, Brace Iron and Steel Pvt Ltd and Independent Director in BTL EPC Ltd (Shrachi Group) and Hindustan Motors Ltd (C K Birla Group).

 He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, India and holds a master's degree in operations management from the Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA. He has a versatile and rich cross functional professional experience of over 33 years and worked with leading Companies in India like Tata Motors, Tata Steel & Mercer Consulting.


Dr. Abhijit Mukherjee

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Dr. Abhijit Mukherjee, Associate Professor - Geology and Geophysics, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

Dr. Abhijit Mukherjee is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Geology and Geophysics; School of Environmental Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), India. He is a Ph.D. graduate from the University of Kentucky, USA, and completed postdoctoral work at the University of Texas at Austin, USA.

 Dr. Mukherjee has received the prestigious National Geoscience Award (2014) conferred by the President of India. He has received the first Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award 2020 in groundwater and was selected by DST as one of 50 Indian scientists below 50-year age. He has been inducted as a Fellow to the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, and Geological Society of America (as the first person from any Indian organization in 100+years).

 His main research areas are physical, chemical, and isotope hydrogeology, geospatial & geochemical Modelling, contaminant transport, groundwater-river-seawater interactions, groundwater quality, Numerical and Artificial Intelligence (AI) simulations of groundwater, as well as on climate change and urban geosciences.


Mr. A. B. Pandiya

Mr. Pandiya, Secretary General, International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage and former Chairman, Central Water Commission is a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from Saurashtra University and M. Tech. in Structural Engineering from IIT Delhi. He is also a former Ex-Officio Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.

 Mr. Pandya, joined the Central Water Engineering Service in Central Water Commission in October 1977 and held various positions in the Department and other organizations under the Ministry of Water Resources like Water and Power Consultancy Services, National Water Development Agency and National Projects Construction Corporation. He superannuated from the Government service in December 2015 after serving as Chairman of Central Water Commission.

 Presently he is engaged with Governments of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, WAPCOS, the World Bank for various hydropower and other projects involving design and construction of large underground caverns and other geotechnical structures in India and abroad, design reviews and design and construction guidance for Polavaram Project, AP, as chairman of design review panel, consultancy to the world bank for National Hydrology Project in India and dam safety advise in Nigeria and is also involved with flagship projects like Kalpsar project in Gujarat and activities of Ministry of Water Resources and NWDA for Inter Linking of Rivers Programme. He is also chairs expert groups for two major international hydropower projects in Bhutan for the design and safety problems.

 He has been awarded by Central Board of Irrigation and Power, Delhi chapter of Indian Geotechnical Society and five other professional bodies for distinguished performance and life time achievements.

Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri

Manjeev Singh Puri is a former Indian Ambassador. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1982 and served as Ambassador of India to the European Union, Belgium, Luxembourg (2013-2017) and Nepal (2017-2019). He has also served as Ambassador/Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the UN from 2009-2012, a period during which India was on the Security Council, and also held the Vice-Presidency of the UN General Assembly. Prior to that, from 2005-2009, he headed the division in the Ministry of External Affairs dealing with UN issues on the social and economic side. In addition, he has served twice in Germany (in Bonn and Berlin), in Cape Town, Muscat, Bangkok and Caracas. He retired on 31 December 2019 in the rank of Secretary, Government of India.

 Major areas of his experience relate to multilateralism (UN), Europe and Nepal and he was involved as a lead member of the Indian delegation at numerous global negotiations on, migration, human rights and UN reforms. His professional focus has been on issues relating to the environment, climate change and sustainable development. He was a lead negotiator for India at the UN on issues relating to the post 2015 development agenda, Sustainable Development Goals and at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 2012. He was a key member of India's delegation at various Climate Change negotiations, including the Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC in Copenhagen in December 2009 and before that at Montreal, Bali, Bonn and Poznan. Furthermore, he was involved with India's participation in the G8-G5 Summits from 2005 and was the point-person for the Major Economies Forum.

 Ambassador Puri has a Masters' degree in Management and did his BA (Honours) in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He is presently Distinguished Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and a Distinguished Visiting Fellow with the Ananta Centre.


Ms. Rowan Ainsworth

Ms. Rowan Ainsworth is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and was most recently Counsellor (Political) at the Australian Embassy in Paris.

 She has previously had postings in Moscow, as Deputy Head of Mission, and in Tokyo covering domestic politics. In Australia, she worked as Director of the Northern, Central and Eastern Europe Section; head of the Department of Foreign Affairs' State office in Tasmania; Assistant Director in the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Branch; Assistant Convenor of the National Trade and Investment Outlook Conference; and on the Japan desk.

 Ms. Ainsworth holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney.

 As Consul-General in Kolkata, Ms Ainsworth is supporting Australia's expanding trade, commercial and investment interests in the eastern and north east Indian states of West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim and Tripura.

 He was Executive Chairman of Eaga Energy India Pvt Ltd (subsidiary of Eaga plc UK FTSE250 company) until 2012. Currently he is an Investor and Country Representative for Power Roll Ltd, UK and also Managing Director of Cenergist Energy Private Limited which is wholly owned subsidiary of Cenergist Ltd UK, which has operations in the UK, Spain, Germany, Italy and now India.

 Power Roll is exploring to invest in India.

 He has served on various Trade Committees in India and the UK and spoken at several international seminars on Sustainability Issues, Energy Efficiency, Renewables, Water Management and on Business Strategies.


Ms. Sophie Ross

Ms. Sophie Ross is Deputy Head of Political and Bilateral Affairs at the British High Commission in Delhi. Sophie took up this role in June 2019, and is responsible for covering UK-India bilateral relations, and Indian politics and society, working together with the British Deputy High Commissions across India.

 Before moving to India, Sophie was based in London and worked for the UK Department for Education and Cabinet Office there, advising Ministers on Parliamentary handling, legislation, and educational policy, as a Senior Policy Adviser.

 Sophie is a champion for gender equality, and studied Classics and Theology at the University of Oxford.

Consul General Melinda Pavek began her assignment at the U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata (India) in August 2021.

 Her prior assignments included Counselor for Science, Innovation, and Development (U.S. Embassy Tokyo), Supervisory General Service Officer (U.S. Embassy Islamabad, Pakistan), and Deputy Chief of Mission (U.S. Embassy Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei). She also served overseas in Nepal (Kathmandu), Jamaica (Kingston), Iraq (Baghdad), and Pakistan (Lahore) as well as on domestic assignment in Washington, D.C. as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Administration. Melinda became a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State in 2004.

 Before joining the Foreign Service, Melinda worked for Johnson & Johnson (J&J) as a supply chain senior analyst, was a consultant and project manager who implemented quality management systems using Six Sigma process improvement methodologies and ISO 9000 standards, and taught English as a Second Language in Miyagi, Japan.

 Raised in Minnesota and now a resident of Wyoming, Melinda earned a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Operations, Supply Chain, and Strategy from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Melinda earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College (Rock Island, Illinois) in Political Science, Economics, and Asian Studies.

 Melinda's partner Brandon is a finance, consulting, and trading professional based in Chicago.


Dr. Ajay Mathur

Bengal Chamber Energy Conclave Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, International Solar Alliance (ISA)

Dr. Ajay Mathur is the Director General of the International Solar Alliance. He earlier headed the The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and the Indian Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), and was responsible for mainstreaming energy efficiency in houses, offices and industries through a number of innovative initiatives. He was a leading climate change negotiator, and was the Indian spokesperson at the Paris Climate negotiations. He served as the interim Director of the Green Climate Fund during its foundational period.

 At TERI, he has spearheaded the move to accelerate action towards a low-carbon and cleaner economy through the adoption of renewable energy in the Indian electricity sector, enhancing efficiency in buildings and industry, and promoting environmental quality through recycling of material wastes and biotechnology-based solutions. He also anchored the annual World Sustainable Development Summits during his tenure at TERI.

 He was also member of Indian Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change and co-chairs of the global Energy Transitions Commission.


Mr. Saurabh Kumar

Mr. Saurabh Kumar is Executive Vice Chairperson, EESL Group. Under Mr. Kumar's leadership, EESL has implemented the globally-lauded Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) programme and Street Light National Programme (SLNP). Mr. Kumar and his team has also been successfully implementing several Demand Side Measures including municipal functions, agriculture, public buildings, and transformative initiatives like e-mobility, smart meters, trigeneration and decentralised solar power plants.

 Mr. Kumar has worked in various capacities in Income Tax Department, Ministry of Power, and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). On the completion of the GRIPS Young Leaders Program in 2006, Mr. Saurabh Kumar was appointed as Secretary of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) during 2007-2010, the nodal central body for promoting energy efficiency in India & also the core agency for the implementation of the National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency under the Ministry of Power. One of the key projects implemented under his leadership is one of the world's largest CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) based efficient lighting project.

 Mr. Kumar is an Electrical Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and Masters in Public Policy from National Graduate Institute of Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan.


Dr. Sunita Narain

Dr. Sunita Narain has been with the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) since 1982. She is currently the Director General of the Centre and the treasurer of the Society for Environmental Communications and editor of the fortnightly magazine, Down To Earth.

 She is a writer and environmentalist, who uses knowledge for change. In 2005 she was awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian Government. She has also received the World Water Prize for work on rainwater harvesting and for its policy influence in building paradigms for community based water management. In 2005, she also chaired the Tiger Task Force at the direction of the Prime Minister, to evolve an action plan for conservation in the country after the loss of tigers in Sariska. She advocated solutions to build a coexistence agenda with local communities so that benefits of conservation could be shared and the future secured. Narain was a member of the Prime Minister's Council for Climate Change as well as the National Ganga River Basin Authority.

 Dr. Narain began her work in the early 1980s, as a co-researcher with Anil Agarwal, an eminent and committed environmentalist who gave the country its environmental concern and message. In 1985, she co-edited the State of India's Environment report, which built an understanding in the country on why India is so important for the poor. In 1989, learning from the successful initiatives of people to manage their environment, Anil Agarwal and she wrote Towards Green Villages advocating local participatory democracy as the key to sustainable development. She has continued to research and write about how environment must become the basis of livelihood security of people in the country. She has also linked issues of local democracy with global democracy, arguing that every human being has an entitlement to the global atmospheric common. In 2012, she has authored the 7th State of India's Environment Reports, Excreta Matters, which presents a comprehensive analysis of urban India's water and pollution challenges.

 In 2011, he associated with Hari Machine Ltd for setting up power boiler business. During his association, he was instrumental in bringing together a clean coal technology cooperation agreement with RAFAKO (largest European boiler manufacturer) through the Bengal Chamber - EBTC tie-up.

He was nominated senior scientist by Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi to Technical University of Munich, Germany in the field of sustainable energy under international bilateral exchange program of the Academy. He was the selected faculty under "India4EU" program with specialization in sustainable energy engineering and worked at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.

 He is/was the Coordinator of two Norwegian Collaborations; Co-PI of an EU funded Inno-Indigo project with Finland and Germany and another multi-country EU project on quality of higher education. He is also the key resource person of Energy and Environment Committee and member of the Education Committee of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the oldest Chamber of India.

 He has been elected fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology of India. Dr. Palatty Allesh Sinu, an inspired faculty of Central Varsities by the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, is currently Assistant Professor of Zoology at the Central University of Kerala, in India. His research interests are broadly in plant-animal interaction, conservation biology, insect science, and environmental policy studies. After obtaining his Masters degree in Zoology, he moved to ATREE-Bangalore as a Research Associate and worked in various projects related to tropical insect diversity and the services they render to ecosystems. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Calicut, Kerala for his work on the effect of land-use change on insect pests and insect natural enemies of rice paddy agroecosystems in the Western Ghats. After his Ph.D. he became the Post-Doctoral Fellow of ATREE and with his Young Scientist award initiated a research on plant-animal interactions. Thereafter he moved to Tea Research Association, Jorhat, Assam as an Assistant Entomologist (Scientist-C) and helped the industry in managing the pests by his comprehensive ecological and entomological approaches. He joined Central University of Kerala after about three year's of his service at TRA. He also was a post-doctoral fellow of the University of Arizona, USA.

 His lab ( http://ecologylabs.org ) involved in researches on plant-animal interaction studies, insect biodiversity studies, and land-use policy analysis in the Western Ghats and the eastern Himalayas.

 He is an author of over 80 research papers of international repute and three books/chapters. Having his experience in the industry and the academy, people are the centre in his most studies.

Robert John Chandran is currently Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata, in India. His research interests are primarily in tropical forest community ecology, grassland ecology, landscape ecology, and wildlife ecology and management.

 After earning two Masters degrees in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, he decided to switch to working on tropical forests. He earned his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, for his work on the community ecology of a tropical dry deciduous forest, in southern India. Thereafter he did post-doctoral research in the United States at the University of Georgia, Athens, the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

 His professional interests grew not only out of a dedication to protecting species, ecosystems, and the environment, but also a deep interest in how ecosystems are organized and how they function.

 He studies how species diversity is organized and maintained at multiple spatial scales, focusing on plant diversity, plant life histories, environmental variation, spatial structure, demographic processes, dispersal limitation, and succession. He also works on generating knowledge to conserve species and habitats, ranging from the influence of fires and invasive species to understanding the anthropogenic drivers of landcover/land-use change in ecologically rich landscapes. While such research is of fundamental importance to ecology, he argues that it is also increasingly relevant for responding to current challenges in conservation emanating from habitat degradation and loss, as well as environmental change. A long-term goal is to integrate the drivers of ecosystem changes, development imperatives, and livelihoods to create a framework for sustainability.


Dr. Silanjan Bhattacharya

Dr. Bhattacharyya is the Professor, Department of Zoology, West Bengal State University. He is also the Member of the research project evaluation committee, West Bengal Biodiversity Board and Ecologist to the Eco-sensitive zone committees of sanctuaries in North and South 24-Parganas, West Bengal. More than 25 years of experience in this field, Dr Bhattacharyya published various reports and publications about Sunderbans and their people livelihood. His research interest on Traditional Knowledge system and culture relating to biodiversity and Impacts of changing human resource use patterns and culture on biodiversity resources and wildlife conservation.


Dr. Renee Borges

Dr. Renee Borges is a Professor of Centre for Ecological Sciences (CES) at IISc-Bangalore. She started her career with IISc in 1992 as an Assistant Professor. She completed her PhD in Biology from University of Miami, Florida in 1989 on "Resource heterogeneity and the foraging ecology of the Malabar Giant Squirrel Ratufa indica". She did her MSc and BSc from University of Bombay. She is a Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences (FASc.). She serves as a panel member of expert panel of Western Ghats, constituted by the MoEF, GOI. Her broad area of research is "Behavioral ecology of plant-animal interactions that includes visual ecology and chemical ecology". Her ongoing researches include Ant-plant interactions, fig biology, evolution of sexual displays in plants, phytochemicals and their role in food selection by herbivores; pollination in fragmented forests; history and philosophy of science, especially, ethics and evolution.

 She is an author of over 80 scientific papers and book chapters of high impact. She delivered lecture in 70 international and national seminars, workshops and conferences. She is also an adjunct faculty in Wildlife Institute of India. She completed several research projects that includes collaborative Indo-France and Indo-Sweden projects. She is an editor, associate editor and reviewer of several international publications and research proposals.
